Abstract
Dr David Cleevely is an entrepreneur and international telecoms expert who has built more than his fair share of businesses. Not least of these is Abcam which he co-founded in 1998 and was Chairman of until 2009. Abcam currently has a $1.5bn valuation – not bad for a company that starting selling antibodies door-to-door on a bike! David will focus on the Abcam story but also look at other billion dollar companies that have come out of Cambridge. He will synthesize the main lessons from these companies for those contemplating a future in entrepreneurship.
