Abstract
Dr Andy Stanford-Clark will introduce the world of Pervasive Messaging – linking sensors and wireless devices to back-end systems. Andy will describe features of his home automation system, including power and water usage monitoring, remote control of electrical appliances from his mobile phone, and electronic mouse traps! He will go on to describe the technology he is working on currently, called LAMA - Location-Aware Messaging for Accessibility – providing infrastructure to help deaf and other people with disabilities, to access information services via their mobile phones, based on their location.
