Industrial examples on traditional and non-traditional techniques for sludge treatment
- π€ Speaker: Dr May Chan, Atkins
- π Date & Time: Thursday 12 March 2015, 16:00 - 17:00
- π Venue: Cambridge University Engineering Department, Lecture Room 5
Abstract
Many industrial operations produce sludge as a main by-product or waste. For example sewage sludge from water companies, mine water sludge from mining and quarrying, and drilling waste from the oil and gas sector. This talk is a collection of examples on sludge treatment techniques including phyto-conditioning, bio-piles, reed beds and electrokinetics. The characteristics of the sludge, the scale and performance of the facilities, the regulatory requirements and the clientsβ expectations will be discussed.
Series This talk is part of the Engineering Department Geotechnical Research Seminars series.
