A Winton teatime discussion hosted by John Mullett, founder of Sustainable OneWorld Technologies, who will explore the potential for biogas and fertlilzer production using organic waste, with practical examples of his work in deploying systems in Africa.

Abstract: Our objective is to find new approaches for tackling the issues of sanitation, fuel poverty and soil fertility. A brief outline of the scope of these issues will be presented. Development work will be presented which outlines how the natural process of anaerobic digestion can be harnessed in a novel way using some modern materials. Information about the practical demonstrations already undertaken will be presented and a brief pointer given towards the nature of future developments which are urgently needed.

Bio: Dr John A J Mullett is a founder of Sustainable OneWorld Technologies (SOWTech), a Cambridge based Community Interest Company. SOW Tech was established to bring innovative waste treatment options to the development of the Global South. John has a PhD in Industrial Studies and Applied Biology and has worked in the organic waste industry for over 30 years. Jobs have included international Head of Organic Waste Recycling for Waste Management International plc, a company with operations in 28 countries and director of a Build Own Operate waste management company. He has also been responsible for numerous innovations in the field including enclosed composting technologies and anaerobic digestion.
