Abstract
Kan’s Ex-infinity functor provides us with a completely combinatorial fibrant replacement for the Quillen model structure on simplicial sets. I will present a new viewpoint on anodyne extensions, i.e. the trivial cofibrations of this model structure. This will allow us to develop the theory of Ex-infinity, and indeed prove the existence of the model structure, in a simple and elementary way.
