Studying galaxy evolution using integral-field spectroscopy

Abstract
I illustrate what we have learned on galaxy evolution using integral-field spectroscopy. In particular I will show that a novel but consistent picture of galaxy evolution is emerging, which can explain both the detailed observations of nearby galaxies and their redshift evolution out to z~3.
