Abstract
Major Greenwood’s appointment to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and his relationship with the MRC is discussed, centred around a recently discovered unpublished memorandum written by Greenwod. Some discussion will also be provided of the origins of Bradford Hill’s book “Principles of Medical Statistics” and its role in the development of medical statistics in the United Kingdom.
