We formalize a method developed heuristically by T. Shrestha for proving that the coboundaries of obstructions in categorical deformation theory are cocycles by encoding calculations as labelings of a 3-computad with a single 3-cell and all lower dimensional cells on its boundary with arrow-valued operations of certain algebraic theories associated to a (k-linear) pasting diagram (or extensions thereof).
