Abstract
Learn about the new science of epigenetics with Dr Wolf Reik. The DNA sequence of many organisms has been determined but why certain genes are active or silent during development remains a mystery. It now appears that ‘epigenetic marks’ in the DNA and the chromosomes have a major role to play in normal development and may explain why we develop diseases as we age.
