‘Moving on’ was the most dominant response to the ICC intervention among those most affected by the 2007 post-election violence in Kenya. ‘Moving on’ became an overarching narrative anchored on local realities of moral reciprocity, material and political interests. This narrative inevitably eroded the legitimacy of the ICC . This paper presents evidence on contestation of the Court’s legitimacy from below.
