Talk starts 7pm following AGM

The talk will be preceded by the Annual General Meeting of the Cambridgeshire area of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, starting at 18:15.

After the AGM , there will be a short break, followed at 19:00 by a talk on Keronite, to be given by Dr Steve Hutchins, CTO of Keronite.

Keronite (www.keronite.com) is a Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) surface treatment technology, an electrochemical surface treatment applied to aluminium, magnesium or titanium. It gives a hard, dense ceramic coating on light alloys which is well adhered, strain and wear tolerant, with excellent thermal and chemical stability.

Our speaker, Dr Steve Hutchins, studied at the University of East Anglia. He has a 1st class honours degree and was awarded a PhD in surface physics technology in 1985. Steve started his career as an engineering consultant in Cambridge working on a wide variety of technology projects. He then joined Lotus Cars Ltd as an engineer before being promoted eventually to Head of Sales and Project Management of the Engineering Division working with many of the world’s leading carmakers. He joined Keronite in December 2002 to reinforce the commercial effort, particularly in the automotive industry, before being appointed Chief Technical Officer and later Chief Operating Officer.

The talk is free to attend, open to the public and is suitable for students and engineers. All welcome. You are encouraged to pass on this invitation and bring with you colleagues, friends and family who are interested in engineering.

Date: Tuesday 18 July 2017
