Armenian, alongside Greek and the Indo-Iranian branch of Indo-European, uses a prefix *e to mark past tense verb stems. In this talk, the Armenian material will be compared to phenomena in Greek and Indo-Iranian, and the function of the augment in Armenian reassessed.
