DESCRIPTION:Most management consultancies use case study interviews as par
 t of their candidate evaluation process. Case studies mirror the work cons
 ultants do on a day-to-day basis and are designed to test candidates’ ab
 ility to think logically about business issues\, to put structure around u
 nstructured problems\, and to communicate and present the solutions to the
 se problems in a concise way.\n\nEPOC is starting a Postdoc consulting cas
 e study club!\n\nFor our second session\, we'll be hosting CAR.\n\nCAR is 
 a consultancy\, made up of a diverse group of specialists in a variety of 
 fields from sustainability to natural disasters and engineering. CAR provi
 des a framework for innovative and research-based consultancy by specialis
 ts in all aspects of the built environment. They are on the lookout for ne
 w people to work through CAR and add to\, or even expand CAR’s scope of 
 expertise.\n\nThe evening will cover the following themes:\n\nTeam-buildin
 g Stephen Platt (Director)\n\nResearch consultancy vs academic research\, 
 William Fawcett (Chair)\n\nGetting and delivering consultancy projects\, J
 ason Palmer (Director and Energy Consultant)\n\nHow CAR operates and ways 
 to join\, Discussion led by Frances Platt (Finance and Executive Director)
  and Tyrone Bowen (Structural Engineer and Deputy Chair)\n\n\n\nCAR is als
 o offering internship opportunities for postdocs on their ongoing consulti
 ng projects.\n\n\n\nThe event will be followed by pizza and beer.
