DESCRIPTION:Brownian particles driven by weakly coloured Gaussian noise pr
ovide a useful framework for studying active matter. Two different theoret
ical approaches have been applied to this class of systems: one based on t
he effective Fokker-Planck equations (the Fox and unified coloured noise a
pproximations)\, and the other based on a perturbative solution of the Orn
stein-Uhlenbeck process. While both methods give the same leading-order co
rrections to the white-noise limit\, nontrivial disagreements appear from
the second and higher order. In this talk\, I will review the methods and
discuss how they yield different criteria for the existence of steady-stat
 e currents and long-range correlations.\n\n
