el? Findings from a community-based cluster randomised trial and a sport f
andom-based app study - Dr Masamitsu Kamada\, University of Tokyo

DESCRIPTION:Effective population strategies to promote physical activity a
re needed to reduce the global burden of non-communicable diseases stemmin
g from physical inactivity. However\, evidence from a few short-term trial
s has highlighted the difficulty of achieving population-level improvement
s in physical activity through multi-strategic community-wide intervention
 s. In this talk\, I will introduce the findings from 1) a community-based
 5-year cluster randomised trial and 2) a quasi-experimental study of a spo
rt fandom-based app developed by the Japanese Professional Baseball League
(Pacific League) and discuss key strategies to achieve population-level i
 mprovements in physical activity.
