DESCRIPTION:Abstract:\n\nSleep is important for memory consolidation. More
specifically\, it is thought that during sleep recent memories are replay
ed in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex to allow for abstraction of sa
lient information across events and consolidation from the initial\, hippo
campal storage to the long-term representation in the cortex. In this tal
k data from both humans and rats will be presented\, providing evidence fo
 r this process.\n\nBio:\n\nDuring my thesis and first post-doc year\, I wo
rked with healthy humans as well as patients with depression and schizophr
enia\, investigating sleep related memory processes with polysomnography a
nd functional MR imaging at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Muni
ch. I then spend 4 years in Richard Morris lab in Edinburgh working with r
odents. I moved to Nijmegen in 2016 to now combine human and animal resear
ch. My main focus are cross-brain mechanisms of sleep and memory processes
in rodents using complex and meaningful behavioural tasks. As an Associat
e Professor I co-lead the Memory Dynamics lab at the Donders Institute tog
 ether with Franceso Battaglia.
