DESCRIPTION:The 2019 Glanville Lecture will be given by *Dr Koen Donker va
 n Heel* (Leiden University). He will examine a newly acquired papyrus by t
 he British Museum dating to the 7th century BC. This presents a great numb
 er of difficulties. First: it is written in abnormal hieratic\, a dreadful
  shorthand. Second: there are many women in it who are clearly acting in s
 ome professional capacity. But why? And where does this papyrus come from?
