DESCRIPTION:I intend to explain what optimal transportation is\, and how i
 t interacts with curvature. I will then describe its introduction into the
  theory of Ricci flow (joint with Robert McCann) and some of the work that
  has followed on from this. In particular\, recent work unifies several di
 sparate strands of Perelman's work into one unified theorem. I will not as
 sume any knowledge of Ricci flow.
