DESCRIPTION:The CAP theorem has been around as one of the commandments of 
 \ndistributed system design for about two decades now. That being said \nt
 here is still some confusion about its actual meaning and implications. \n
 In this talk I will present different approaches to defining and \nreasoni
 ng about the CAP theorem\, and the impact that it has on \ndistributed sys
 tem design.\n\nI will go on to examine some philosophies based on CAP\, an
 d the systems \nthat follow them. Finally\, I will present possible extens
 ions to the \nreasoning brought about by the theorem\, and how these apply
  to existing \nsystems.
