DESCRIPTION:Democracy and democratic ideals - political equality\, inalien
able rights\, representative government - lie at the very heart of the lib
eral Western order. But what does democracy mean outside of traditional go
vernment? How do democratic principles emerge in non-conventional politica
l spaces\, away from politicians and parliaments? In this two-panel event\
, we ask whether the idea of ‘everyday democracy’ offers solutions to
some of the most pressing issues of our time - from governmental accountab
ility to housing crises in post-disaster zones\, the stagnation of our sch
ool curriculums and political disenfranchisement. We explore new (and some
times radical) ideas of what democracy means and\, most importantly\, what
it could come to mean in a world that is created for\, and by\, the peopl
