DESCRIPTION:After the Higgs boson discovery\, no direct evidence few new s
tates have been found at the LHC. In this situation\, precise Standard Mod
el (SM) predictions become essential\, as they can identify deviations fro
m expected behaviour pointing to new physics. \n\nAn important ingredient
of such predictions are sophisticated higher order perturbative QCD calcul
ations. One of the key difficulties of such calculations is the appearance
of a non-trivial infrared singularity structure\, that must be dealt with
. In this talk\, I will discuss this problem and several proposed solution
 s. In particular\, I will describe the nested soft-collinear subtraction s
cheme\, which is the first method which is both fully local and fully anal
ytic. I will give an overview of the construction\, emphasising its physic
al transparency and relative compactness\, and will give a short outlook o
 n future developments.
