DESCRIPTION:The world of high impact publishing can be opaque\, frustratin
 g and sometimes even daunting\, and that’s just for the editors. In this
  talk\, Lewis will speak about leaving research for a career in publishing
  and the rewards and challenges it presents\, provide some insight into th
 e inner workings at Nature Research\, shine a light on the black box of ed
 itorial (with some helpful hints and tips)\, and talk about life after Nat
 ure and the inspiration behind and aspirations for his new project\, One E
 arth.\n\nBio: Lewis Collins\, a palaeoclimatologist by training\, is the f
 ounding Editor-in-Chief of One Earth\, a new high impact journal from the 
 publisher Cell Press that seeks to unite the natural\, social and applied 
 research communities in our joint efforts to drive environmental change an
 d sustainability science forward. Prior to joining Cell Press\, Lewis spen
 t over 5 years with Nature Research\, where he led the Nature Communicatio
 ns Earth editorial team and handled and curated original research\, review
 s\, and opinion pieces from across the full spectrum of Earth and environm
 ental science.
