DESCRIPTION:I will start by discussing results on magnetically-doped topol
ogical insulators (thick films/bulk) of materials such as Cr-Bi2Se3\, whic
h ideally should exhibit an insulating bulk and an electrically conductive
surface. We will see how these magnetic and electrical properties could b
e used technologically. Then\, I am going to show thin film magnetism phen
omena at surfaces and interfaces such as at EuO/LaAlO3(001) or Graphene/Co
(Ni). I will then extend these insights to magnetic nanoparticles and see
that their surfaces can exhibit other long range ordering than their core
s as present in NiO nanoparticles. Finally if time permits\, I will focus
on magnetic surfaces and present recent results from spin-polarised low en
ergy electron loss spectroscopy on Fe(001)/Ag(001) heterostructures.
