spite of the great efforts by many studies\, there have been little progresses

towards a ge neral method of constructive factorizations to get exact solution

of vector WH equations. The aim of this talk

is the presentation of an alterna tive solution technique that is based

to the re duction of the WH equations to

Fredholm equatio ns of second kind (Fredholm

factorization). The presentation will focus to the applications

of the Fredholm factorization to WH

equations occ urring in diffraction problem. In particular it is based on five steps:1) Deduction of the WH

equ ations of the problem\,2) Reduction of the WH equa tions to Fredholm integral

equations (FIE) \,3) Solution of the Fredholm integral equations \, 4) Analytical

continuation of the numerical soluti on of the FIE\,5) Evaluation of the physical

fi eld components if present: reflected and refracted plane waves\, diffracted

fields\, surface wave s\, lateral waves\, leaky waves\, mode excitations \, near

field. A characteristic example of
