DESCRIPTION:Learning from experience of community mobilisation to improve
maternal and child health\, we developed two distinct population based int
erventions to prevent and control diabetes within rural communities in Ban
gladesh. The first intervention was an mHealth health promotion strategy d
elivered to individual’s mobile phones. The second was a participatory c
ommunity mobilisation intervention whereby community groups identified and
addressed key threats to their health in their own communities. The inter
ventions were evaluated using a three arm cluster-randomised controlled tr
ial across 96 villages covering a population of approximately 125\,000 ind
ividuals. This presentation will describe the development of these interve
 ntions\, their implementation and impact.
