DESCRIPTION:I will give a brief overview of the some of the challenges in 
 computational solution of the Einstein field equations.I will then describ
 e the background error subtraction technique\, designed to allow for more 
 computationally efficient solution of scenarios where a significant portio
 n of the domain is close to a know\, exact solution. To demonstrate\, I wi
 ll discuss application to tidal disruption of a star by a supermassive bla
 ck hole\, and studies of black hole superradiance.
