DESCRIPTION:Ice cores are high resolution paleoclimatic records which reve
al very\nstrong climate variations in the past. By spectral filtering and
other\ntime series analysis techniques\nwe try to understand the underlyin
g climate dynamics. The system has a\nstrong component of fast fluctuatin
g chaotic variation. On long\ntimescales this acts as\nstochastic noise fo
rcing the climate. Thus observed non-linearities\,\ntipping points\, can\n
be seen in the record as response to the climatic noise.
