DESCRIPTION:Numerical schemes that preserve the structure of the kinetic e
 quations can<br>provide new insight into the long time behavior of fusion 
 plasmas. An electromagnetic<br>particle-in-cell solver for the Vlasov{Maxw
 ell equations that preserves at the discrete<br>level the non-canonical Ha
 miltonian structure of the Vlasov{Maxwell equations has<br>been presented 
 in [1]. In this talk\, the framework of this geometric particle-in-cell<br
 >method will be presented and extension to curvilinear coordinates will be
  discussed.<br>Moreover\, various options for the temporal discretizations
