DESCRIPTION:With the development of the Internet\, the public has been giv
en unprecedented access to information and communications. This has introd
uced a new wave of censorship systems which attempt to moderate the availa
bility of information. Unsurprisingly\, this has led to a game of cat and
mouse between censors and censorship resistance systems. This talk will co
ver the ethics of censorship\, the inner workings of both censors and cens
orship resistance systems (with a case study on Tor\, a widely used CRS) a
nd how effective censorship resistance is in practice.
