\, a documentary film following the life of an Indigenous child in Austral
ia (see more information about the film below). Following the film screeni

schools with Jo Woodman of Survival International and Malvika Gupta\, a Ph
D student from the University of Oxford working on Indigenous education in
India and Ecuador.\n\nEvent is located at the Faculty of Education Donald
McIntyre Building in room 1S7.\n\n-------\n\nTen-year-old Dujuan is a chi
ld-healer\, a good hunter and speaks three languages. As he shares his wis
dom of history and the complex world around him we see his spark and intel
ligence. Yet Dujuan is ‘failing’ in school and facing increasing scrut
iny from welfare and the police. As he travels perilously close to incarce
ration\, his family fight to give him a strong Arrernte education alongsid
e his western education lest he becomes another statistic. We walk with hi
m as he grapples with these pressures\, shares his truths and somewhere in
-between finds space to dream\, imagine and hope for his future self.\n\nY
