DESCRIPTION:This presentation will briefly review past history and present
  patterns in the interactions between parasites (defined broadly to includ
 e viruses and bacteria along with protozoan\, helminth and arthropod paras
 ites) and human populations\, in developed and developing countries. Again
 st this background I shall offer some thoughts on current public health in
 itiatives\, at national and international levels\, with particular referen
