DESCRIPTION:The talk will look at several problems with a low carbon energ
y market\, and propose a common solution.\n\nAn initial look will be taken
at the implications of entropy for the use and generation of both electri
city and chemical energy.\n\nThe desire for carbon neutral hydrocarbons wi
ll be looked at\, stemming both from their current use as industrial feeds
tocks\, transport fuels and directly as energy sources.\n\nSecondly the ne
ed for responsive electrical supply\, especially given the unpredictable v
ariability associated with many currently proposed renewables. The need fo
r thermal power systems\, and the entropy limits this put in place\, will
be considered.\n\nA solution is proposed\, which also opens options for hi
gher efficiency in overall system efficiency.\n\nThe talk will then look a
t the ramifications of this for a thermal power station. Liquid Fluoride T
horium reactors are suggested as a good solution\, based on entropy\, safe
 ty and waste considerations.
