DESCRIPTION:During the transition from pre-implantation to early post-impl
antation the mammalian embryo undergoes major morphogenetic changes\, lead
ing to transformation of the blastocyst into the egg-cylinder or bilaminar
disk configuration\, in mouse or human respectively. We found that integr
in 1 is required during this transition\, coordinating morphogenesis an
d promoting survival of the embryo proper. By single cell RNAseq\, we also
characterised a sequence of events underlying post-implantation developme
nt of the human embryo. We identified a group of cells which may act as an
evolutionary-conserved anteriorising signalling centre for the establishm
ent of the anterior-posterior axis prior to gastrulation.
