DESCRIPTION:We consider random systems of coagulating particle
s\, motivated by combinatorial objects which show
up in many-body systems. In the scaling limit\, th
e coagulation system is described by a determinist
ic limit (PDE) equation\, due to Flory\, which und
ergoes a phase transition in finite time. On the o
ther hand\, in certain cases\, the random system c
an be described exactly by a kind of random graph\
, studied in detail by Bollobás\, Janson and Riord
an\, which generalises the results we know and lov
e on Erdös-Réyni graphs\, and tools from graph the
ory can be brought to bear on the PDE.
