DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will discuss the notion of intermittency in flu
ids. Eddies do not occupy the whole space in intermittent turbulent flows\
, which leads to a more efficient energy cascade mechanism. Hence\, highly
intermittent solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations can potentially exh
ibit pathological behaviors\, such as loss of uniqueness. Convex integrati
on schemes produce examples of such solutions\, and I will discuss the rol
e of spacial and temporal intermittency in such constructions.
