DESCRIPTION:Social networking has become a hugely popular Internet service
and many aspects of it mirror that of pervasive computing. Twitter (http
://www.twitter.com) can be thought of as providing a publish/subscribe ser
vice for contextual information\, users of Facebook (http://www.facebook.c
om) update their status to indicate if they are at work or at home (or sin
gle!). We presented a position paper at W3C Workshop on the Future of Soc
ial Networking introducing these parallels to the social networking commun
ity. \n\nThis meeting will comprise a presentation on the feedback we got
from the paper followed by a discussion/brain-storming session on what pe
rvasive computing might learn from social networking.\n\nAs preparation pl
ease read the position (http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~sjeh3/social/) - this sho
 uld only take 5 minutes!
