DESCRIPTION:Over the last 20 years\, computational techniques for polynomi
 al optimization based on sum-of-squares (SOS) relaxations have enabled con
 sider progress in the study of nonlinear dynamical systems. For example\, 
 they can be used to prove the nonlinear stability of equilibria\, estimate
  regions of attraction\, bound extreme events over finite or infinite time
  horizons\, and bound infinite-time averages. Nevertheless\, SOS methods r
 emain relatively unknown outside the optimization and control communities.
  This talk will introduce researchers at INI to the theory and practice of
  SOS relaxations\, starting from the basics. If time permits\, I will give
  a brief overview of open research questions.
