DESCRIPTION:At this session of the NLIP Reading Group we'll be discussing
the following paper:\n\nVincent Ng. 2008. "Unsupervised Models for Corefer
 ence Resolution":http://aclweb.org/anthology-new/D/D08/D08-1067.pdf. In Pr
oceedings of the 2008 Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language
Processing (EMNLP-08).\n\n*Abstract:*\nWe present a generative model for u
nsupervised coreference resolution that views coreference\nas an EM cluste
ring process. For comparison purposes\, we revisit Haghighi and Klein’s
(2007) fully-generative Bayesian model for unsupervised coreference resolu
tion\, discuss its potential weaknesses and consequently propose three mod
ifications to their model. Experimental results on the ACE data sets show
that our model outperforms their original model by a large margin and comp
 ares\nfavorably to the modified model.
