 eminar series.\n\nGiven claims by government and industry that carbon diox
 ide capture and storage (CCS) technologies can be a major low-carbon energ
 y source and that public acceptance is critical\, the minimal allocation o
 f resources to communications and education is striking. Successful public
  communications on science and technology require deliberate design\, time
 \, resources\, and imagination. We review existing efforts communications 
 efforts on both climate science and CCS and explore the reasons for succes
 ses and failures.
