DESCRIPTION:I will present recent joint work with Jos&eacute\; A. Carrillo
  and Matias Delgadino\nwherein we revisit the classical grazing collision
 limit which relates the\nfamous Boltzmann equation to the Landau equation.
  By viewing the\nBoltzmann equation as a gradient flow due to Erbar\, we e
 mploy some of the\n&Gamma\;-convergence ideas by Sandier and Serfaty to ob
 tain convergence towards\ngradient flow solutions of the Landau equation.
 This is done by verifying\nthe lower semicontinuous convergence of the met
 ric derivatives and the upper\ngradients\, the latter of which coincides w
 ith the entropy-dissipation functionals\nto these equations.\n&nbsp\;
