DESCRIPTION:James Blair is Chief of the Unit on Affective Cognitive Neuros
 cience in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program at National Institute for
  Mental Health. Following graduation he was awarded a Wellcome Trust Menta
 l Health Research Fellowship that he held at the Medical Research Council 
 Cognitive Development Unit for three years. Subsequently\, he moved to the
  Institute of\nCognitive Neuroscience\, University College London\, where 
 he helped form and co-lead the Developmental Disorders group. He joined th
 e NIMH Intramural\nResearch Program in 2002. Professor Blair's primary res
 earch interest involves the neural mechanisms underlying the regulation of
  emotion in humans\, and the neurobiology of anxiety disorder. He has publ
 ished extensively on these areas including patient groups characterised by
  psychopathy\, 'acquired sociopathy'\, autism and conduct disorder.\n\nThi
 s seminar is part of the Amalgamated Societies Lecture Series. Registratio
 n is not required. Admission is free and there is a wine reception to foll
 ow.
