DESCRIPTION:Cosmology is at an interesting juncture. In the past century\,
astronomers\nobtained the first complete census of the mass and energy in
the universe. We\nlearned that the universe is composed of about one thir
d matter\, while two\nthirds is in a new mysterious form that astronomers
refer to as dark energy.\nThis dark energy is causing the universe to acce
lerate in its expansion. I\nwill discuss measurements of cosmological par
ameters\, with particular focus on\nmeasurements of the dark energy and th
e Hubble constant\, the current expansion\nrate of the universe. I will gi
ve an update on the status of the Carnegie\nSupernova Program\, a long-ter
m project to follow up type I supernovae with\nphotometry at many waveleng
ths and spectroscopy out to redshifts of 0.7.\nFinally\, I will discuss a
new project to improve the accuracy of the Hubble\nconstant based on new m
id-infrared measurements of distances using the Spitzer\nsatellite. \n
