DESCRIPTION:In this seminar\, I will give a tutorial introduction to chall
 enges in power-electronics-dominated power systems with a particular focus
  on stability and control. I will discuss both the device level and the sy
 stem level. On the device level\, we will focus on grid-forming converter 
 technologies\, review and compare the four predominant approaches\, and cl
 ose with a general approach that encompasses all previous ones. On the sys
 tem level\, we first review different stability metrics\, then focus on th
 e provision of ancillary services by means of inverter-based sources\, and
  discuss their implementation through dynamic virtual power plants. Throug
 hout the talk\, I will highlight the (often unexpected) lessons that we le
 arnt in this research domain and point towards open and urgent problems.
