DESCRIPTION:I will give a brief overview of the perturbative construction 
 of galaxy number density and shape statistics on a large cosmological scal
 e. I will present recent results from the application of such models to ga
 laxy clustering and the intrinsic alignment of galaxies. The latter are cu
 rrently considered one of the most important contaminants in weak gravitat
 ional lensing\; however\, they are also promising cosmological probes in t
 heir own right.
