DESCRIPTION:Operator preconditioning is a highly successful approach to re
 gularize boundary integral equations. In this talk we provide a practical 
 guide to the use of operator preconditioning in multiple scattering. We st
 art by discussing theoretical foundations and implementational issues. We 
 then do a deep dive into applications in high-intensity focused ultrasound
  and the simulation of atmospheric particles. Finally\, we present some re
 cent work on the performance of OSRC type operator preconditioners for ele
 ctric field integral equations.
