DESCRIPTION:Modified theories of gravity tend to either introduce addition
 al field content or are higher than second-order order. Alternatively\, on
 e can work in a more general geometric framework (beyond Riemannian geomet
 ry). A more drastic approach is to break fundamental symmetries such as di
 ffeomorphisms or local Lorentz invariance. In this talk I will show the eq
 uivalences between these symmetry breaking theories and the non-Riemannian
  theories known as teleparallel gravity.
