DESCRIPTION:Impact damage in composite materials significantly reduces the
residual strength of an aircraft component and is likely to lead to failu
re due to fatigue\, with repair techniques offering a solution to restore
the mechanical properties. Experimental testing and numerical modelling we
re implemented to assess the effect of different patch repair variables on
the overall repair performance of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP)
composite materials. The results found demonstrate that certain variables
have more of an effect on the impact performance of the repaired panels an
d show that the model chosen is effective in predicting the results observ
 ed experimentally.
