DESCRIPTION:Present data is consistent with the supposition that a single
condensing scalar state\, the Higgs boson\, can be added to the Standard M
odel to give mass to all elementary particles. However\, I argue that effe
ctive field theory concepts applied to the Higgs boson suggests that we sh
ould expect alterations to the simple Higgs boson collider predictions. I
motivate a few examples that cover a large class of possible theories\, a
nd detail some collider physics implications for both low-luminosity searc
hes of Higgs bosons and high luminosity searches at the LHC.
