DESCRIPTION:I will discuss joint work with Bell\, Diller\, and Jonsson in 
 which we construct birational maps of 3-d projective space which have tran
 scendental dynamical degree\, providing counterexamples to a conjecture of
  Bellon-Viallet.  The constructed maps preserve a torus-invariant volume f
 orm\, and we will discuss the algebraic stability and dynamical degrees of
  such maps more generally.
