DESCRIPTION:Siegel modular forms have certain interesting applications in
toroidal compactification of heterotic sting theory. In this talk\, I will
provide an update on the problem of studying vacua in 4d N = 1 heterotic
string theory on toroidal orbifolds with a Wilson line modulus. On the mat
hematical side\, this is related to the construction and analysis of autom
orphic functions and singular moduli of g =2 curves. Time permitting\, we
will also analyse the pullback of these invariants and their physical inte
 rpretation.
